Meet Our Founder
Black Sheep was founded by Souleymane "Sal" Koureissi, a former New York City Public School student whose journey through sports shaped his passion for empowering young people.
As a Division I basketball player, Atlantic 10 Champion, and NCAA March Madness competitor, Sal experienced firsthand how mentorship, discipline, teamwork, and opportunity can transform a young person's life. Those experiences inspired him to dedicate his career to youth development.
Sal has served youth and families across New York City, designing programs that foster leadership, confidence, resilience, and personal growth. His work extends far beyond athletics—he believes every young person deserves opportunities to learn through experience, discover their strengths, and build the skills needed to thrive in school, their communities, and life.
That belief became the foundation of Black Sheep.
Today, Black Sheep partners with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations to create meaningful experiences that strengthen the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of young people through experiential learning, mentorship, teamwork, and movement.
